When using any Hobbywing Bluetooth tuning devices like the OTA, the LCD Program Box Pro (G3), or the Tunazlyer, along with HW Link V2 App to update your Hobbywing ESC firmware, please follow these steps to avoid problems during the update and damage to your ESC.
This also applies to ESCs that have bluetooth built in.
The following topics should be addressed to ensure trouble free updating of your ESC.
Airplane Mode.
Screen lock.
Distance of the Phone, from the Device.
1. Turn on the ESC with the Bluetooth device Connected (Unless Bluetooth is built in then just power on the ESC).
1- Be sure to set your phone in Airplane mode and turn off Wifi.
You must leave Bluetooth turned on to connect to the device.
2- Turn off your phone screen lock. Screen locks can interrupt the update and damage the ESC.
3- Do not move the phone, or the ESC during the update. While connecting to the Hobbywing Device, and running the Update, leave the phone about 1 arm's length (about 3 feet) away from the Hobbywing Device to ensure connection quality. Often being "closer" creates problems, so we recommend 2-3 feet space between the phone and the OTA during the update.
