Q.
We have one of these and we’re trying to connect our esc through the computer. My son wanted to try. When the program started it showed the box needed an update. We performed the update. Halfway through it failed. Now the pc won’t connect and it just shows white boxes on the screen. Won’t work at all. I bought this in the last few months on amazon. I have 2 1s secs and 3 2s and now I can’t program. Please advise.
Guru:
White boxes across the LCD Box, generally indicates the box encountered a problem during an update. Overall, often the failure does not come from the box, or always a connection issue, but when "Windows" decides to do a few things. Here is a basic break down that has gotten other users with the "White Boxes" back on track.
"Bricking" an LCD Box, generally is not caused by the "Box going bad" or the "Software not working".
Simply put, this comes from a basic PC or connection issue.
In some cases, they can be revived by simply connecting and updating as normal, but if the process will not work, it is likely the box is damaged.
When updating the box, is is important the basic process is done correctly so the PC/Windows does not interrupt so to speak.
Step 1 is to connect the box to the PC, and wait for the "USB Sounds" to come from the PC.
- After that, Windows will provide 2 notifications in a small window in the lower right.
- One notification that Windows is looking for USB Drivers. A 2nd that says it's done and the new USB Device is ready to use.
Step 2 is to open the Hobbywing USB Link program.
Step 3 is to connect and do the updates as needed to the box.
If this does not work, step #1 for product service/exchange/replacement is to complete the RMA Form at the link below.

This is a warranty situation for a customer. I would really like to be able to speak to a human if that’s possible.
