True to any electronic component, ESC can not ignite or burn itself. Instead, something external is the root that caused the damage.
In the case of capacitor damage, there are 3 reasons we can consider.
- Reserved polarity (cross-wired, shorted wire(s), etc)
- Current overload (C) by the battery, and/or cold soldering.
- Physical device failure such as a power plug related failure, poor battery compound (irregular current C)
- Overvoltage (V) produced by external factors
Regardless of how many years of experience, cross-wire incident happens very often. Reserved polarity is the #1 root issue in the RC industry. Although we can't control how electronics gets installed, some of our high-performance ESC carries HOBBYWING patented technology.
Negative polarity protection.
XR10 PRO G2 ESC or higher, XR8 PRO ESC or higher model, AXE ESC series have equipped with a HOBBYWING patented technology "Negative Polarity Protection".
